Robert joined the United States Army in 1958 and was discharged in 1961. He was stationed in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; sons, Steven (Darcey) and Scott; a daughter, Dr. Sherrie Flaherty; and three grandchildren.
Bob died at his home and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot C-C-01-2-0)
