He was an active member of Lawron Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. He was a member of the Sons of Norway and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Bob died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He is survived by his son, Robert Long, Jr; daughters, Vicky (Lloyd) Adams and Linda (David) Nash; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Gray; and by his wife of 67 years, Mae, on May 8, 2009.
