  • Civilian Life:
After two years in the Navy, Bob started his career at State Farm Insurance in 1964 as an underwriter in Columbia, Missouri and Roseville, Minnesota. He was an agent in Grand Rapids, Minnesota from 1974 to 2002, when he retired.

A longtime resident of Grand Rapids, Bob was a member of Rotary International, the Masonic Lodge, Blandin Male Chorus, and the United Methodist Church. He volunteered for GRACE House, Hope House, and as a diving coach. A competitive swimmer, diver and tennis player in college, Bob ran many marathons and triathlons later in life. He played the flute, and he loved listening to his record collection, fishing and boating with family, and driving his MG and several other unreliable cars, endearing him to local mechanics.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara.

He is survived by his children, Anthony, Gina (Patrick) Kennedy, and Andrew (Sara); three grandchildren; former wife, Linda; brother Richard (Geraldine); and many extended family members and friends.

Bob passed away in the Memory Care Unit at Cerenity Senior Care in St. Paul, Minnesota and is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Section 37, Site 352)
