Bob served in the United States Navy during World War II. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served 20 years, including duty in the Korean Conflict.

Bob was raised and attended school in Los Angeles, California.
He married Betty J. Olson on April 14, 1948, in Seattle, Washington where he was stationed at McChord Air Force Base.
Following his discharge in 1965, Bob moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota and worked at the Conoco Service Station.
He lived in Duluth for two years in 1969-1970 while working at Cathedral High School and then returned to Grand Rapids.
Survivors are his wife, Betty; a daughter, Janet Sanders; sons, Phillip, Stephen, and Brian; a sister, Alice Buono; and six grandchildren.
Bob died at Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-G-14-0-4)
