    Robert Murphy married Sylvia Kallio in 1940 in Minnesota. They made their home in Bovey, Minnesota, where he was a service worker for the Bovey Mercantile. After leaving the Mercantile, he worked for the Greenway School District as a bus driver, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Bethel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Bovey, the Loyal Order of Moose in Bovey, and the VFW Post 4016. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing or working on his diamond willow carving.

    Bob died in Duluth, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota (Block 152). He is survived by his children, Con (Geri) Murphy, Gary (Becky) Murphy, and Marilyn (Patrick) Adams; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Johnson; a brother, Harold "Bud" Murphy; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Murphy Wulff. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia; a son, John Murphy; his parents; sisters, Margaret, Virginia, Lorraine, and Audrey; and a brother, James.
