Robert was raised and schooled in the Cohasset, Minnesota and Splithand areas of Itasca County.

Following his discharge from the service, Robert returned to Grand Rapids, Minnesota and married Betty E. Sullivan on January 5, 1946 in Coleraine, Minnesota.

He worked for many years in construction and in 1970 went into business for himself as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1983.

Survivors are his wife, Betty; daughter, Jeanne; sons, James and Jerry; sisters, Margaret Burt and Alice Holum; brother, Kenneth; and five grandchildren.

Robert died at his home and is buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 1.4.4.8)
