Robert enlisted in the Sea Bees on June 1, 1943 during World War II and saw action in Guam and other areas of the Pacific Theater.

Robert and his family moved to southern Minnesota. He completed grade eight and worked as a farmer and later as a carpenter. He also was a taxidermist.
Robert and Rachel (Rae) were married on Valentine's Day in 1946 and moved to Squaw Lake, Minnesota to build a home on Little Dixon Lake. He served as a Third River Township supervisor and on several local boards. He also established a tree farm.
In 1981, the couple moved to Emmett, Idaho, where he was semi-retired, continuing to work as a carpenter.
Robert is survived by his wife; four children; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Robert died in Emmett, Idaho and is buried in Rosy Cemetery in Itasca County, Minnesota.
