    Robert enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 during World War II, serving on a repair ship in the Pacific.

    Robert was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

    He married Carolyn Klopfenstein of Bowling Green, Ohio in 1951.

    Robert retired in 1980 from the Canton City Schools where he was a secondary level teacher since 1950 at McKinley High School and later at Lehman High School, all in Canton, Ohio. He was a well-known boys basketball, football, and baseball coach in various capacities at McKinley and later Kent State University Stark Campus. Robert was an active member of the Bulldog Athletic Association, which was for the benefit of student athletes.

    Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, in 1997 and a sister, Joyce Leinone in 1991.

    He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Thomas Feldkamp; two grandchildren, Cara and Jonathan; two sisters, Margaret (Dr. Robert) Hansen and Fellice Rolfes; and a brother, Anthony DePetro.

    Robert died after an extended illness in Canton, Ohio and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery at Bowling Green, Ohio. (Plot Sec. EE)
