Rolf served in the United States Army Medical Corp in Australia during World War II. He was a mechanic in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) Unit.

After the war, Rolf worked for the United States Post Office as a mail carrier in Blackduck, Minnesota.
He did most of his work as a mechanic for Gildemiester and Danielson Motors in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, until retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Selma; five brothers and sisters.
Rolf is survived by one brother, August Erickson; special friend, Jo Haynie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rolf died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Olivet Cemetery at Deer River, Minnesota.
