Russ Leppala married Heidi Granheim in 1984 in Bovey, Minnesota. He was a member of Local #548 and had worked as a Millwright at Blandin Paper Company from 1991 to 2016.
Russ died in Rochester, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota (Block 137). He is survived by his wife, Heidi; children, Nicholas (Siara) Leppala, Erin Leppala and Anthony Leppala; a granddaughter; his mother, Audrey Leppala; and siblings, Dean (Kristine) Leppala and Sheila Karel. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Leppala.
