Scotty worked for Hanna Mining Company and owned and operated Dane Oil Company and a tree farm. He received flying lessons from Ned Powers and was happiest when he was flying.
Scotty was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; and sister, Mari Carlson.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; sister, Joan Williams; brother-in-law, Jim Carlson, Sr., Arlene's children, Richard (Tammy) Swing, Marnee (Mark) McGowan; and Zachary Swing; and nieces and nephews.
Scotty died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-C-30-3-0)
