Sanford Lyman married Joy Fox in Minnesota in 1963. He enjoyed watching old westerns and helping his grandsons with enduro racing.
Sanford died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota (Block 120). He is survived by his daughter, Crystal; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his brother, Gerald Lyman; two nephews and one niece; and several great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Joy; and his beloved dog Peaches.
