    Shirley grew up in Calumet, Minnesota and lived in Cloverdale until moving to Nashwauk, Minnesota two years ago.

    Shirley and Barbara Wivell were married on May 27, 1950.

    He had been a maintenance mechanic for the M.A. Hanna Mining Company, was a lifelong member of the Calumet Community Presbyterian Church in Calumet, Minnesota; had been a private pilot, was active in the Civil Air Patrol, serving as an officer, and was a member of the Marinoff-Miskovich V.F.W. Post 8831 of Pengilly, Minnesota.

    His parents and a brother, Sam, preceded him in death.

    Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three sons, Alan (Linda), Mark, and David; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ester Craven.

    Shirley died in Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery at Coleraine, Minnesota.
