Simo immigrated to Canada in 1952 and to the United States in 1960. He has been a Chisholm, Minnesota resident since 1991.
Simo worked as a carpenter for Riihiluoma Construction Company of Cloquet, Minnesota for the past year. He was a member of the Chisholm Assembly of God Church and of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America-Union Local #606 of Virginia, Minnesota.
Survivors include two sons, Matias and John; his father and step-mother, Lenni and Heleena Torma, three brothers, Pekka, Tapani, and Timo; two sisters, Vuokko Serala and Tuula Kube; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vieno in 1987 and by a sister, Marja Kangas, in 1984.
Simo died at Virginia Regional Medical Center in Virginia, Minnesota as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
