Thomas was united in marriage to Priscilla Harwood Randall on December 12, 1961 in Effie, Minnesota, where they lived.

Preceding Thomas in death was his wife; parents; and brothers Clarence and Donald.
He is survived by his children; Raymond (Wendy) Randall, Nancy York, Pattie (Keith) Barstad; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Thomas died at Bigfork Valley Nursing Home in Bigfork, Minnesota and is buried in the Bigfork Cemetery at Bigfork, Minnesota.
