Waino Ylinen worked as a millwright for Oliver Mining Company until World War II when he served in the U.S. Army in New Guinea and the southern Philippines. After the war he worked for U.S. Steel at the Universal Atlas Cement Company at Duluth where he was employed until retirement in 1973.
Waino died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in the Trout Lake Community Cemetery, Bovey, Minnesota (Block 6, Lot 21). He is survived by his wife Lydia Cecelia (Jacobson) Ylinen; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Carol) Knight and Mrs. Neal (Shirley) Johnson; a sister, Mrs. Lester (Helen) Olson; five brothers, Eino, Tim, Arthur, Toivo, and Neil; and two grandchildren.
