Walter was raised in the Hill City, Minesota area. He and his family moved to the Grand Rapids, Minnesota area in 1941.
A logger for many years, Walter later worked as a construction carpenter and built many homes in this area before his retirement.
After his discharge, he returned to the Hill City area and was married to Isabel Bishop on January 15, 1935. He had been living in the Bass Brook Township, Minnesota area for the past three years.
He was a former member of the Moose and Eagles in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was also a former chairman of the Itasca County Advisory Planning Commission and a member of that board.
Survivors are his wife, Isabel; a daughter, Mrs. Jerome (Shirley) Miner; a son, Jerome; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Drexler and Mrs. George (Clara) Potkanjak; five brothers, George, John, Ernest, Charles, and David; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and William; and two sisters, Minnie and Mary.
Walter died at Itasca Memorial Hospital and is buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 2.20.1.8)
