Wayne was raised in the Bigfork, Minnesota area. Following his tour of duty, Wayne worked for Jones-Laughlin Steel Corporation in Calumet, Minnesota as a millwright. He retired in June, 1987 due to illness.
Surviving relatives are sons, Terry and Tim; daughters, Theresa and Kersten; brothers, Dean, Douglas, and Vern; sisters, Shirley Thielke and Karen O'Laughlin.
