Wilber served as a B-17 pilot with the United States Army Air Corps in the European Theater.

Wilber grew up in Cass Lake, Minnesota and Cooley Location in Nashwauk, Minnesota.
He married Margaret Rogholt of Cass Lake, Minnesota on December 11, 1942.
Wilber worked for the Hanna Mining Company starting as a laborer, then took correspondence courses in electricity and over the years worked his way up to being an electrical supervisor.
His wife, Margaret, passed away on August 22, 1991. Wilber married Iris (Kendal) Finney on November 28, 1996, in Gillette, Wyoming.
He was an active member of the Masonic Temple, Hibbing Moose Lodge of Hibbing, Minnesota, Hanna Bowling and Hanna Retirees and was also a member of the VFW and Wesley United Methodist Church of Hibbing, Minnesota. He loved to dance and play music.
Survivors include his wife, Iris; one son, Steve (Susan) Fisher; three stepchildren, Beci Finney, Linda Polley, and Marcia Pearson; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Wilber was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Christine Sanders; an infant son, son-in-law, Duane Sanders; three brothers; and four sisters.
Wilber passed away at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, Minnesota and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery at Hibbing, Minnesota. (BL 2 LT 215 GR 4)
