Bill Mackie attended Dunwoody institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He married Evelyn Dahlgren in Minnesota in 1940. He was a welder for Oliver Mining Company in Coleraine prior to the time he joined the Navy. After the war, he moved to Auburn, Washington, where he was a beer distributor for Valley Distributors for 25 years. After retirement he moved to Hemet, California. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge 1808, American Legion and VFW, all in Hemet.
Bill died in Hemet, California and is buried in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California (Section 13A, 128). He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; three sisters, Zola, Gwendolyn Latvala, and Almetta Kramer.
