William was born in Kentucky and was raised in Aurora, Illinois, where he attended schools. He came to Itasca County 25 years ago.
He lived in the Scenic Highway area for five years and then settled in the Splithand area where he operated Splithand Lodge until 10 years ago.
William married Agnes Bocinsky in Downers Grove, Illinois in 1946. He was employed by the J&L Mining Company at the Lind-Greenway Mine until his retirement several years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes; two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Agnes) Johnson and Mrs. Steven (Marilyn) Munger; one son, William; two brothers, Earl and Carl; and six grandchildren.
Buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 2.26.3.8)
