William was a former resident of Calumet, Minnesota and was a resident in Grand Rapids, Minnesota the past eight years. During his residence in Calumet he was employed by the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation, as a shovel runner. He was well known throughout this area.
William held memberships in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Forty and Eight. He was a member of Itasca Council, Knights of Columbus.
He was the brother of Charles Edmond Clarkson, Robert Henry Clarkson, Mary Susan (Clarkson) Heglmeier, Clarence Benton Clarkson, Ida Mae (Clarkson) Mathews, Lewis "Dutch" Clarkson, Grace Ellen (Clarkson) Anderson, Goldie Lucille (Clarkson) Rothmeier, Burlin Maxon Clarkson, and Chester Julian Clarkson.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, Robert; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Heglmeier, Mrs. Anderson, and Mrs. Sig Rothmeier; two brothers, Edgar and Richard; and one grandchild.
William died at the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot C-A-48-1-6)
