    William married Katherine Buchanan in 1944.

    William worked for United States Steel for 33 years, retiring in 1982 as superintendent of Sherman Plant and Mines.

    He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 222, Mesabi Country Club, Hibbing Elks Club, Hibbing Curling Club all in Hibbing, Minnesota and Northern Minnesota Engineer's Club. He was well-known for his wood carving.

    William was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

    He is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughters, Barbara Zbacnic and Beverly McDowell; sons, William and Robert; brother, Victor; sister, Clara Hanson; and nine grandchildren.

    William was a former resident of Grand Rapids, Minnesota and died near his duck camp on Egg Lake. He is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota.
