    Maury joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served on the USS Rawlins in the Pacific Rim during World War II.

    Maury was born and raised in Osborn, Missouri until the age of nine when his family moved to northern Minnesota in 1935.

    He attended the Marcell School in Marcell, Minnesota and the Deer River High School in Deer River, Minnesota.

    Maury married Madeline Ziebarth in 1950.

    After his college education, Maury returned to the Talmoon, Minnesota area to farm. He was an auctioneer and an employee of Cleveland Cliffs Mines for fifteen years.

    He and his family attended the Jessie Lake Baptist Church for many years. His spiritual relationship to Jesus was important to him. Recently he served as a Chaplin for the local VFW Post 9703.

    Maury is preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward, sister Gertrude Snyder, and grandson Calvin Pratt.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Madeline Elizabeth (Ziebarth) Dobson. Maury is survived by his children; David (Lynn), Maurice (LeRae), Joyce Dobson White, Gayle (James) Pratt, Peter (Cathy) Dobson, and Ben (Keith) Dobson. He is survived by his brother, Robert and sister, Ruth Nelson; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

    Mary died at his home near Talmoon, Minnesota and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery near Talmoon, Minnesota.
