    Newspaper article - 1944 – Wm. Calfee, Jr., Fireman First Class in the U.S. Navy, arrived here Friday night to visit his wife and daughter and parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Johannaber. To his friends and former schoolmates in Coleraine, he has always been “Billy Johannaber.” He has about 30 days in the States, with future assignment unknown. He went overseas last January and saw action immediately in the South Pacific, in the Marianas and New Ireland. He was in Guam when he was ordered home on leave and arriving in Seattle, called his family long distance.

    William Calfee died in Ventura, California and is buried in Southern Arizona Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Sierra Vista, Arizona (plot - Sec 2, Site 461). He is survived by a son Charles; a daughter, Delores Hinz; sisters, Lorna McManigill, Jodi Hampton, and Joyce Mayer; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Arthur (Louise) Johannaber.
