    The Zerebko family, who were displaced persons living in Germany after World War II, immigrated to the United States in 1949.

    Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Walter was employed as a master sergeant at the National Guard Armory in Chisholm, Minnesota until his retirement.

    Walter and Millie were married from June, 1953 until Millie's death in 2011.

    Walter enjoyed being a soldier, spending time at his cabin with the family and Army buddies, fishing and hunting, cooking and canning, fixing cars, teaching his worldly knowledge to his granddaughter and great-granddaughter, and reading.

    Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred (Simat) Zerebko; and his sister, Zena Kintner.

    He is survived by his son, Walter, Jr. (Kif); one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter; one grandson; two sisters, Val (Rom) Amistadi and Lydia (Pat Walsh; and many nieces and nephews.

    Walter died at Grand Village Nursing Home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Calvary Cemetery at Chisholm, Minnesota. No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
