    Woodrow Latvala was chief engineer for Hawley Coal Co. at Keystone. He was a member of Lilly Grove Baptist Church, Princeton, Virginia; the Bartow Masonic Lodge, Bartow, Florida; the Thomas Brown Chapter of R.A.M., Bartow; the Bartow Commandary No. 15 Knight Templar; a member of Beni Kedem Shrine Temple, Charleston; the White Shrine of Bluefield and the Order of Eastern Star at Princeton, Virginia; and the AIME, West Virginia State Board of Registered Engineers. He had resided in Princeton, Virginia at the time of his death, having moved two and on-half years ago from Socorro, New Mexico.

    Woodrow died in Mercer, West Virginia and is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Oxford, Mississippi. He is survived by his wife, Estelle Houston Latvala; two sons, Woodrow J. Latvala, Jr., and Michael Latvala; seven sisters, Mrs. John Hudak, Mrs. Walter Anderson, Mrs. Joyce McDowell, Mrs. Leon Juaire, Mrs. Paul Edwards, Mrs. George Nelson, and Mrs. Edna Stricker; three brothers, Warren Latvala, Charles Latvala; and P.A. Latvala.
